One of the most important Starcraft 2 tips is to strike a balance between production and generation. If you want to get somewhere in this game, have a long term survival rate and a high victory to defeat ratio, you’re going to have to find this balance. This pretty much begins with your harvesters and using those resources and money to build buildings and weapons. From there, you can vary up your tactics such as changing races, studying your opponent, playing with friends and implementing team strategies.
A good Starcraft 2 guide would tell you that changing races is one of the most important Starcraft 2 tips because it helps you become a flexible player and discover the abilities of each type of team. Each race has a specific set of abilities, strengths and weaknesses. When you are about to select an opponent to play against, it is important to know which races attack and defend most efficiently against the opposing team. If you are a Terran, you can consider putting Vulture Spider Mines in unsettled areas of the map to slow down your enemy. When the enemy comes up to the mines, they are blown to bits! If you are a Zerg, then you might want to consider running your production efforts differently than you would run a Protoss or Terran. Keep in mind that the Zerg can produce differently than Protoss and Terran. Protoss and Terran both require resources from the land while Zerg is able to produce based on the amount of hatcheries it has. Be careful to not build too many hatcheries too quickly though, because making too many of them could result in a slower build time for your military force.
If you are a Terran or Protoss, then some good Starcraft 2 tips would be to build harvesters. Be careful not to build too many harvesters. The number of harvesters you build depends on the number of resource fields you have on the map. If you build too many of them, then they won’t be able to harvest all the resources. The number of workers should also be dependent on the number of resource fields you have – no more and no less. If you are a Zerg, a good Starcraft 2 strategy is to use an opposite strategy for growth and production. Your hatcheries production should depend on how many Protoss or Terran bases there are. For example, if there is 2 Protoss bases, then you should have about five or six hatcheries. If there are 3 Terran bases, then you should have about eight or nine hatcheries. The number of drones you have to support those hatcheries should then depend on the number of hatcheries you are going to build. Try to plan out your economy in advance, whether you are a Zerg, Protoss or Terran. This should benefit you in the long run, especially if you are playing against multiple players or playing against your friend or computer. Following these Starcraft 2 tips will give you the best chance of success.
In order to get maximum production out of your hatcheries, you’re going to want to have about five drones to each one of them. When it is time to expand your Zerg hatcheries, you should consider when would be the best time to do so. To make this decision, you need to do a small test. A good Starcraft 2 tips guide should advise to let your hatcheries run idle until each one hits three larvae. When this completes, take a look at your minerals. Is it at three hundred minerals? If it is, then you can build another hatchery and then produce five more drones for that hatchery. But if the minerals are not at three hundred yet, then keep building more drones to increase the mineral production. You can build maybe two or three, but don’t build more than five at this time. Complete the test again to see if your minerals arrive at three hundred. This tip will help you expand optimally. You should not expand too quickly or too slowly. If you expand hatcheries too slowly, then you will not have enough resources to build your military over the long term. You might be able to build an army quickly in the beginning, but the resources will not be coming in fast enough to keep up the pace of production. But if you expand your hatcheries too quickly, you will not be able to produce any viable military early on to significantly shield you from early attacks.
Using these Starcraft 2 tips will be to your advantage as you continue to play the game with different races and play against different opponents. You will see that there are a wide variety of tricks you can do when you play against different races as well as your own. There are Terran vs. Protoss, Terran vs. Zerg, Terran vs. Terran, Protoss vs. Zerg, Protoss vs. Protoss, and Zerg vs. Zerg. Each of these game play scenarios requires a different strategy to implement in order to defeat your opponent. There are also strategies you should implement when you are playing multi-player games as well. Continue reading the next article for more Starcraft 2 tips and tricks.
