War has begun! It’s a battle for supremacy between 3 races. Whether you play for Terran, Protoss or the Zergs it’s always great to have a flawless strategy. And always have a backup plan in case your first game plan doesn’t work well to your advantage. Here are a few ways to take your game to new heights.
First thing you need to know when playing SC 2 is to know those hot keys. Knowing the keyboard shortcuts in StarCraft 2 is very important. While playing an entire game with just a mouse is possible it is not a really smart thing to do that’s why you need to know the hotkeys to save you even fractions of a second.
CTRL key + (any number) will allow you to group buildings and units. You can tap the designated number for a particular group or unit and it will select that group, double tap it and you will be taken to the location of the unit or building. You can have coordinated attacks with the use of hotkeys, for example the R key will instantly activate a Ghost’s sniping ability if you are controlling it.
You can also hit the Space Bar after you hear a tactical nuke call, this will bring you to the red dot’s location. ALT key will help you see all your unit’s HP bars. Here’s what I usually do when I play with my friends, I try to trick them into spending loads of money for air defenses and after that I launch a massive ground attack! Pretty cool, right?
When playing StarCraft 2 it is always a good move to attack supplies, workers and your enemy’s key production units. Before building try to send a worker to your enemy’s location so you can see what his game plan is. Even if it will just give you a quick glance of what their tech is it will still give you an indication on what kind of tactic they will use on you.
I’m an experienced Brood War player but during my first try of SC 2 I still had a lot of catching up to do when it comes to the additional features. The attack capabilities of units are quite limited. It’s a rock-paper-scissors thing and you need to know what race will evenly match up to the race that you are playing for. You need to know how to expose each unit’s weakness, remember each class has its own strengths and weaknesses. For example as a Terran player building mobility is a very huge advantage. Flexibility of add-ons for each building is also a plus. You can now also hide supply depots underground.
Just like in Brood Wars, Protoss class is only capable of creating structures within pylon radius. However they have the ability to use the warp gate so you can build a crystal pylon near your enemy’s base and just teleport an entire army for an ambush attack, this gives you the element of surprise if you want to attack opponents.
As for Zergs, they need a creep in order to build. And if you know how to properly use Nydus Worms then you will be able to quickly transport your armies from one creep to another. High Templars are also effective against Terran drops because of their psistorm ability that can easily eradicate marauders and marines.
Finally, you need to remember that it is just a game. And the purpose of games is for amusement, you need to enjoy playing! If it becomes a tedious chore or something that you don’t want to do anymore then you will become a less effective player. Also, try to watch StarCraft 2 YouTube video strategy guides from pros, this way you can pick up new techniques and you can learn from your mistakes.
One of the most important Starcraft 2 tips is to strike a balance between production and generation. If you want to get somewhere in this game, have a long term survival rateand a high victory to defeat ratio, you’re going to have to find this balance. This pretty much begins with your harvesters and using those resources and money to build buildings and weapons. From there, you can vary up your tactics such as changing races, studying your opponent, playing with friends and implementing team strategies.
A good Starcraft 2 guide would tell you that changing races is one of the most important Starcraft 2 tips because it helps you become a flexible player and discover the abilities of each type of team. Each race has a specific set of abilities, strengths and weaknesses. When you are about to select an opponent to play against, it is important to know which races attack and defend most efficiently against the opposing team. If you are a Terran, you can consider putting Vulture Spider Mines in unsettled areas of the map to slow down your enemy. When the enemy comes up to the mines, they are blown to bits! If you are a Zerg, then you might want to consider running your production efforts differently than you would run a Protoss or Terran. Keep in mind that the Zerg can produce differently than Protoss and Terran. Protoss and Terran both require resources from the land while Zerg is able to produce based on the amount of hatcheries it has. Be careful to not build too many hatcheries too quickly though, because making too many of them could result in a slower build time for your military force.
If you are a Terran or Protoss, then some good Starcraft 2 tips would be to build harvesters. Be careful not to build too many harvesters. The number of harvesters you build depends on the number of resource fields you have on the map. If you build too many of them, then they won’t be able to harvest all the resources. The number of workers should also be dependent on the number of resource fields you have – no more and no less. If you are a Zerg, a good Starcraft 2 strategy is to use an opposite strategy for growth and production. Your hatcheries production should depend on how many Protoss or Terran bases there are. For example, if there is 2 Protoss bases, then you should have about five or six hatcheries. If there are 3 Terran bases, then you should have about eight or nine hatcheries. The number of drones you have to support those hatcheries should then depend on the number of hatcheries you are going to build. Try to plan out your economy in advance, whether you are a Zerg, Protoss or Terran. This should benefit you in the long run, especially if you are playing against multiple players or playing against your friend or computer. Following these Starcraft 2 tips will give you the best chance of success.
In order to get maximum production out of your hatcheries, you’re going to want to have about five drones to each one of them. When it is time to expand your Zerg hatcheries, you should consider when would be the best time to do so. To make this decision, you need to do a small test. A good Starcraft 2 tips guide should advise to let your hatcheries run idle until each one hits three larvae. When this completes, take a look at your minerals. Is it at three hundred minerals? If it is, then you can build another hatchery and then produce five more drones for that hatchery. But if the minerals are not at three hundred yet, then keep building more drones to increase the mineral production. You can build maybe two or three, but don’t build more than five at this time. Complete the test again to see if your minerals arrive at three hundred. This tip will help you expand optimally. You should not expand too quickly or too slowly. If you expand hatcheries too slowly, then you will not have enough resources to build your military over the long term. You might be able to build an army quickly in the beginning, but the resources will not be coming in fast enough to keep up the pace of production. But if you expand your hatcheries too quickly, you will not be able to produce any viable military early on to significantly shield you from early attacks.
Using these Starcraft 2 tips will be to your advantage as you continue to play the game with different races and play against different opponents. You will see that there are a wide variety of tricks you can do when you play against different races as well as your own. There are Terran vs. Protoss, Terran vs. Zerg, Terran vs. Terran, Protoss vs. Zerg, Protoss vs. Protoss, and Zerg vs. Zerg. Each of these game play scenarios requires a different strategy to implement in order to defeat your opponent. There are also strategies you should implement when you are playing multi-player games as well. Continue reading the next article for more Starcraft 2 tips and tricks.

There are a number of Starcraft 2 tips to be aware of when you’re playing Starcraft 2, but among the most important Starcraft 2 tips is to be well diversified in your knowledge of what strategies to use when you’re playing different races. Zerg vs. Protoss and Zerg vs. Terran, Zerg vs. Zerg and Protoss vs. Terran, and Protoss vs. Protoss and Terran vs. Terran. Each one requires a different strategy to attack and defend. We will go over some of what these strategies are and you can maximize their usefulness to the best of your ability.
A good Starcraft 2 guide would tell you that if you’re a Zerg playing against a Protoss, you can go aggressive, spendthrift, early blitz or middle game production. The aggressivemaneuver requires you to create Zerglings early on in the game and overwhelm the Protoss so that they will either be defeated or be prevented from expanding quickly. The spendthriftmaneuver requires you to create Zerglings that kill off the one or two scouts Protoss sends over early on in the game to prevent your base from expanding rapidly. The early blitz method requires you to make a lot of Zerglings in the beginning to initially overwhelm the Protoss in order to disrupt their expansion efforts. The middle game production tip requires you to speed up tech production to Lair Tech in order to use the Scourge ability to stop the Corsair.
If you’re a Protoss playing against a Zerg, then the best Starcraft 2 tips would be as follows: you should either do fast expansion, do two gateways, or do one base technology. In order to start a fast expansion, you have to know precisely where you want your buildings to go. You should start by building 8 Pylon in the direction of the natural land. Use the probe that made the Pylon to scout the surrounding territory. Close off your territory at the choke point. Then, depending on what the Zerg does, you can either do a five pool, nine pool or build twelve hatcheries very quickly. Don’t forget to build the Zerglings as well.
If you’re a Zerg playing against a Terran, then expect to play in the Destination map. This is where the Terran enjoys using a Mech opening, and you have to be prepared for it. The Zerglings are perhaps your most beneficial means for directing enemy fire while you launch your heavy artillery towards their main weapons and military. Hydralisks would be beneficial to build as well because they have a good balance of cost, health, damage and size.
If you’re a Zerg playing against a Zerg, good Starcraft 2 strategy would be to be prepared for an all out war. You will have to make Mutalisks as quickly as possible in order to overtake your opponent. Still, use your Zerglings to take out spires and spawning pools in order to slow the production of Mutalisks. Other than this, it is basically who can outwit and outlast their opponent to the very end.
If you’re a Terran playing against a Protoss, some wise Starcraft 2 tips would be to either expand quickly with one factory, apply pressure with two factories, or do blitz rushes. Building one factory will allow you to devote more resources to your military and thus let you apply early pressure to your opponent. Another tip is when the Protoss take your third base, they will be temporarily overextended. During the time it takes them to build their military up enough to bring reinforcements, you will want to bear down on their forces. The two factory build is considerably more risky because you have to build your second factory without the Protoss knowing. Building your second factory will hedge against fast technology expansion by the Protoss, but if they find out you’re doing that early on, they could slow their tech production and attack you in full force.
If you’re a Protoss playing against a Protoss, a good Starcraft 2 guide would tell you that you can either build your robotics facility first, make two gateways first, or build one gateway into the cybernetics core. Like the Terran, building two gateways will allow you to have a strong position in case your mirror opponent decides to expand quickly and overtake you. Following these Starcraft 2 tips you will be able to produce a relatively strong army and hedge against any quick tech advances your opponent may try to pull off.
If you’re a Terran playing against a Terran, you can either start out building two factories, one factory, five factories, or one starpoint wraiths. Building two factories is the most popular because it gives you enough production power to produce armed forces quickly enough to have a commanding position in the game. Even if the other Terran team starts out with one factory, which allows them to expand even faster, you can at least fight them back long enough to get your technology upgraded. This is why this strategy is so popular. Depending on whether you want to take an aggressive, defensive or economical approach, you might want to use wraiths, dropshipping tanks and doing island expansion respectively – one of the most helpful Starcraft 2 tips you can find.
